The clicArt gallery is the
response to the desire for a
new
focal point in Italian and international photography. We must
emphasize the term “novel” since it is key to the entire
philosophy of the project.
To begin with, the authors presented are all novel.
clicArt’s intent is to focus on
promoting emerging photographers: artists who, irrespective of
their age, have not yet had the opportunity to present their
work through an exhibition, in a prestigious location
combined with a monographic publication and with a
clear intention to move into the market of collectionism.
The commercial management of the initiative is also novel.
The
prices maintained at a moderate level of between 250-500 Euros,
all the
the proceeds from
works sold will all go to the authors. By foregoing its
percentage share, the gallery is setting a “political price”;
hopefully this will lead to a much wider range of buyers.
Exhibition policy, too, is novel.
clicArt is located in a strategic part of central
Milan – the key crossroad of artistic and professional
photography in Italy. It is an exceptional gateway for
selected, unknown authors, who just need to present their
portfolio to the gallery’s artistic director.
There is a novel aspect in how, at this moment in time, one goes
about recovering the photography of emotions. Preference will go
to those images which can forcefully communicate stories of life
and forms of perception;
in
contrast to
contemporary photography which looks almost exclusively at
conceptualized ideas, thematically so dominant in recent years.
The quality of the product sold will be guaranteed through a
respect for the most “classical” of traditions. The
process of archivial print will be employed for all
photographs, with limited and numbered copies. An elegant folder
can be requested for each author, containing four images (format
30x40 cm) all mounted on museum card passepartout The
authors folders are placed in boxes (format 40x50 cm)
suited to conserving and preserving photographic materials. As
yet further guarantee of the product purchased, the
photograph or folder will be supplied with a document of
authenticity.
With three years of activity, the prestigious location and the
monographic publication MarkaMagazine for clicArt,
the clicArt project wants to give emerging photographers a
dignified opportunity equal to that of already well-acclaimed
authors. We are driven by a passion for photography and by an
urge to create a “fervid” interest in the cultural panorama; we
are committed to achieving two ambitions in particular –
helping the emergence of new talent and cultivating a new form
of photographic collectionism.
