Ghirri's
photographic research, underscoring the transient character of
photography, uses it as a means to create a suspended time, like
that of fairy tales. These photos verge on impossibility, opening
the eyes of the observer. Rather than offering “something to see”,
they recreate a moment of animating that represents a revelation.
The theme of the exhibition is the Italian landscape
from
the shores
of the Po river, all the way to the sea. It has been realized with
the contribution of the Riello Group, which is determined to further
culture, and not just business. The author has personally selected
and arranged the images, intertwining the different red threads of
the story in a grid of analogies that “break free from the two
dimensions of their medium, from cultural jargons, from the
complexities of art criticism. The photographs are merely images
that help to remember something, notes one may include in an album”.
